The public is invited to join Girl Scout Troop #56011 and author Denise McGowan Tracy at a "make your wish" event at the Box Factory for the Arts, 1101 Broad St. The free event takes place on Sunday, November 16, beginning at 1:30pm, and includes a book presentation, sing-along and bake sale.

Author and playwright Denise McGowan Tracy will read passages from her book, Eleanor's Very Merry Christmas Wish, and lead a holiday sing-along accompanied by pianist Chris Hyatt. Hyatt, a musician and composer who lives in Chicago and St. Joseph, works as a solo artist, sits in with jazz groups in the Chicago area, and often performs at Box Factory events.

Following the sing-along, the Girl Scouts will host a bake sale while guests have the opportunity to purchase signed, personalized copies of the Eleanor book as well as other themed Eleanor merchandise.

"Eleanor" is the perfect book for anyone who believes that wishes do come true. This heartfelt, humorous book tells the story of a ragdoll who lives in the magical world of the North Pole. She loves her North Pole family yet has one wish – for a best friend and home of her own. Eleanor realizes that wishing is not enough. You must take action to make your dreams come true! This lesson and a love of COOKIES are sprinkled throughout the story.

Denise McGowan Tracy is a native Chicagoan with more than four decades of experience in the entertainment business. She and her husband, Ed, moved to the St. Joseph area four years ago. She recently performed her one-woman, sold-out show on the Box Factory stage.

"We're delighted to welcome families to enjoy this event and to experience all that the Box Factory offers,” said Box Factory Board President Susan Solon. “We are especially delighted that Girl Scout Troop #56011 of St. Joe, co-led by our own studio artist and filmmaker Diana Densmore, will be with us to ensure each child has a wonderful time."
