About Us

The Box Factory for the Arts provides Southwest Michigan residents, visitors and artists the opportunity to view, for free, quality art exhibits. With a large performance space the community can also attend events and performances centered around the arts. Artists studios and office space are available for rent. The Art Market gift shop sells quality local and regional artists’ work.

The Berrien Artist Guild, Inc., founded in 1962, purchased the historic Williams Bros. Paper Box Mfg. building in 1995. This small group of enthusiastic artists converted the old factory building into today’s multi-use arts facility known as the Box Factory for the Arts where all the arts are celebrated. Three floors of the 55,000-sq-ft multi-use art center includes artist studios, galleries, a performance stage, classrooms, Art Market, meeting space and more.

The Box Factory for the Arts has four galleries: the Robert R. Williams Gallery, the Heartha Whitlow Gallery, the Riverwalk Gallery, and the Skyview Gallery. Both the Williams and Whitlow galleries are on the Street Level, while the Riverwalk Gallery is on the River Level of the building and Skyview is on the Third Level.

Throughout the year the Gallery Committee reviews and selects regional artists interested in displaying work at the Box Factory for the Arts. The exhibits, which change every six weeks, are free to the public.
