Join us in celebrating a meaningful addition to the Lake Charter Township community at the ribbon cutting for the John Gast Memorial Trail on Friday, May 15th from 2:00–3:00 PM, with a special speaking engagement beginning at 2:15 PM.
This exciting event marks the official opening of a space designed to connect, honor, and inspire residents of all ages.
Lake Township is proud to announce the completion of the John Gast Memorial Trail, a 1.2-mile non-motorized trail designed to safely connect residents of all ages between Lake Township Park and Bridgman High School and the City of Bridgman. The trail honors the memory of former Supervisor John Gast and stands as a lasting tribute to his legacy within this community.
Running from Lake Township Park at its southern terminus to the Bridgman High School and City of Bridgman at its northern end, the trail offers a safe, accessible route for walking, running, and biking. Whether residents are commuting between the park and the city, enjoying a morning jog, or taking a family bike ride, the John Gast Memorial Trail makes active transportation and recreation easier and safer than ever before.
At the heart of the trail is Lake Township Park, which offers a wide range of amenities for the whole family. The park features baseball, softball and soccer fields for a wide range of age groups. Disc golf enthusiasts will find a quality course to enjoy, while those seeking a peaceful escape can take in the park's beautiful pond. For gatherings large and small, the park's event pavilions provide a welcoming space for picnics, celebrations, and community events.
The John Gast Memorial Trail represents Lake Township's ongoing commitment to creating safe, connected spaces that enrich the quality of life for every resident — from young children to seniors. We invite the entire community to lace up their shoes, hop on their bikes, and experience everything this trail and park have to offer.
Come be part of this special moment as we honor a lasting legacy and celebrate a new path forward for the community.
