2026 SWMI & National March Housing Market Sales and Selling Prices Fall.
“Southwest Michigan’s housing market sales and prices at the end of the first quarter of 2026 fell solidly behind the market in 2025. First-quarter sales dropped 19 percent this year compared to March 2025. However, sales increased 26 percent over sales in February, with the average selling prices rising 18 percent higher in March 2026 than in February,” stated Luke Jeffries, Association Executive, Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS ® , Inc. “After a cold start in January for the SWMI housing market, February market activity did not defrost. The number of houses sold in February fell to 137 houses, the lowest level since 2009. The inventory of houses for sale, selling prices, and the mortgage rate all dropped below those in February 2025. Selling prices peaked in February 2025 in the year-over- year comparison that includes prices back to 2006,” stated Luke Jeffries, Association Executive, Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS ® ,
