Their season will run June 13th through August 10th, 2025, with daily hours from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and Sunset Specials from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Friday through Sunday.
Zo’s Mini Donuts began as a summer project in 2023 when Zoey Heyn, then a high school freshman with a passion for baking, noticed that her homemade mini donuts were a hit among friends and family. With the help of her sister Lydia, a Michigan State University marketing graduate, the pair transformed an old Coca-Cola trailer—painted bright pink—into a mobile donut shop stationed next to Vintage Finds - HCM near Warren Dunes State Park. Their unique family recipe quickly won over locals and tourists alike, with over 15,000 donuts sold in just the first four weeks of operation.
Following their initial success, Zo’s Mini Donuts expanded to a second trailer in New Buffalo. During their off-season, the sisters received the top prize at the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber’s HYPE Pitch Competition, earning $15,000 to further grow their business. They also secured first place at Move Women Forward’s Statewide Women Start-up business competition, receiving an additional $10,000. Most recently, Zoey Heyn competed at the International Career Development Conference (put on by DECA), presenting Zo’s Mini Donuts against high schoolers from all over the world. Her business plan earned her first place, bringing home the first-ever international DECA trophy in Bridgman High School history.
With this support, Zoey and Lydia plan to introduce a third truck and establish a permanent presence in St. Joseph, all while maintaining their commitment to delivering fresh, delicious mini donuts and a welcoming atmosphere.“We’re excited to open our doors and share our family’s donut tradition with even more people in the community,” said Zoey Heyn, co-founder of Zo’s Mini Donuts. “This business started as a dream between sisters, and it’s become a way for us to bring joy and sweetness to Southwest Michigan. We owe everything to our amazing customers, the Zo’s Mini Donuts Family, who have supported us since day one.”
