NILES, MI – On Sunday, November 9, from 10am to 3pm, Sticky Spoons Jam is proud to host its Veteran Makers Market featuring nine small veteran-owned businesses, each bringing their unique craft to the table - from macrame and soap to woodwork, knitted blankets, and more.
Aiye Akhigbe, the founder and owner of Sticky Spoons Jam, LLC is a Navy veteran.
In 2023, she launched the market with a mission to elevate veteran entrepreneurship and create a platform where service, creativity, and resilience converge. Today, her store proudly showcases eight veteran-owned brands, each selected through direct partnership and shared values. By 2027, she aims to grow that number to 15, expanding opportunities for veteran makers whose products reflect lived experience and craftsmanship.
This initiative is more than retail—it’s a tribute to the stories behind the goods. Every item on the shelves carries the imprint of a veteran’s journey, offering customers a chance to support small businesses while honoring the spirit of service.
Akhigbe said, “There are over 1.6 million veteran-owned businesses in the United States, representing about 5.5% of all U.S. business owners, meaning one in every 18 business owners is a veteran. Our Veteran Makers Market allows us to highlight the veteran entrepreneurial spirit. We welcome the makers to our location and offer the community an opportunity to support small veteran-owned businesses. Come out, grab a cup of coffee or lemonade and some of our in house-made cookies, chat with a veteran and kickstart your holiday shopping.”
The market will run 10am to 3pm, with coffee and lemonade donated and served by Twist & Stout Mobile Bar Experience. At noon, all veterans present will muster for a group photo donated by OnBase Productions.
Sticky Spoons Store is located at 11801 Pucker St, Niles MI. Veterans and active duty service members with ID always receive a 10% discount at the Store.
