STEVENSVILLE, MI — The Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber is pleased to welcome Gym Rat Performance and Wellness to the regional business community with a special Open House and Ribbon Cutting Celebration on Tuesday, February 3rd, at their new location, 4500 Red Arrow Highway, Unit I, Stevensville.
The Open House will take place from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with the official Ribbon Cutting scheduled for 12:00 PM. Community and Chamber members are invited to tour the facility, meet the team, and celebrate a new business dedicated to health, wellness, and movement.
Gym Rat Performance and Wellness is owned and operated by James Morris, PT, DPT, CSCS, a St. Joseph native and 2013 graduate of St. Joseph High School. A former multi-sport athlete, Morris holds multiple degrees from Grand Valley State University, including a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He also earned his EXOS Performance Specialist designation while working with EXOS, gaining experience alongside active NFL players and combine prospects.
After completing his education and early career, James became frustrated with the limitations of traditional healthcare settings, including high patient volumes and treatment approaches that left little room for individualized care. Determined to create a better, more patient-focused experience, he returned to his hometown and founded Gym Rat Performance and Wellness, a clinic built on quality care, personalized treatment, and long-term results.
Drawing on his background with elite athletes, James brings the same level of expertise and attention to every patient, whether they are recovering from surgery, returning to weekend activities, or beginning a fitness journey. Gym Rat Performance and Wellness is a physical therapy clinic and personal training studio designed to support all physical health needs, guided by the belief that everyone is an athlete, even if the only sport they play is the game of life. With a focus on healthspan over lifespan, the clinic empowers individuals to move better, find joy in fitness, and pursue a lifestyle aligned with their unique goals and abilities.
Gym Rat Performance and Wellness is currently accepting new physical therapy patients and is in-network with Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Aetna, with self-pay options also available to ensure flexible and accessible care for the community.
As part of the Ribbon Cutting celebration, attendees can participate in a fun Par 3 Challenge. Guests will have one attempt to land a golf ball on the green, and those who succeed will receive a complimentary Gym Rat T-shirt.
