For Immediate Release: March 10, 2025
St Joseph, Michigan – South Shore Health & Racquet Club (SSHRC) and Maddog 5/1 Revolutionary Fitness are proud to share some exciting news! The two well respected fitness organizations are joining forces to offer an elevated fitness experience for the Southwest Michigan community.
SSHRC will be partnering with Marydawn Taggart and the team at Maddog 5/1 beginning in April. These 5/1 Courses, now powered by SSHRC, allow SSHRC to offer a whole different style of fitness courses to its offerings. Marydawn and her team bring several years of experience in the group training and fitness industry. They have been a great compliment to the community in their role for the last 14 years. Together, they will be able to build upon these offerings and create a mutually beneficial experience for SSHRC members, the current users of Maddog 5/1 and the community as a whole. The Maddog 5/1 team will be leaving their current space at the end of March and coming to SSHRC to become a part of the SSHRC team.
What is a 5/1 Course?
5/1 means that in every course, no matter the name, you will be challenged to train in the five components of fitness: upper body, lower body, cardio, core and balance. These highly trained and passionate instructors will educate, inspire and motivate athletes and non-athletes alike to be stronger every day! The 5/1 courses have stood the test of time with a proven track record of success.
SSHRC's General Manager Sarah Lancaster says, “We are excited about this opportunity and what it means for both our staff, members, and the community. With growing membership at the club, being able to offer even more group fitness options is amazing. We are excited to welcome the new instructors as well as clients to the SSHRC community.”
Marydawn Taggart says, “Maddog 5/1 has been a leader in group fitness for over 14 years, building a strong community and a foundation of excellence in fitness with each and every class. Now, we are ready for our next chapter. It seems like a natural progression that we partner with a fellow leader in the fitness community~ South Shore Health and Racquet Club. SSHRC has built a legacy of success, and our missions align when in the workplace and on the studio floor. Team Maddog and our family of athletes is proud to call SSHRC home as of March 31.”
