Schmidke Construction and Contracting, LLC, a leading custom home building firm, announces its partnership with Pizzo & Associates, Ltd. to celebrate Earth Day 2024 by launching a "rewilding" initiative to restore balance to the ecosystem at its new 5-acre headquarters build-site and to invest in the sustainability of the community.
Partnered with Pizzo & Associates, renowned experts in ecological restoration with decades of experience, Schmidke Construction is taking proactive steps to manage the natural area at 6291 Sawyer Road, Sawyer, Michigan where construction for their headquarters is underway. The company recognizes a responsibility to the community, as natural land initiatives can reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, create habitats, encourage pollinators, combat invasive species, and beautify the area.
The rewilding approach for Schmidke Construction involves three phases. In the first phase, a controlled burn is conducted which benefits the soil and allows native plants to re-grow faster. The second phase involves management of invasive species and strategic installation of native Southwest Michigan plants. The third and final phase is a multi-year stewardship that allows nature to find balance and continue to restore itself.

Continuing their theme of environmental responsibility, Schmidke Construction plans to host a private tree planting ceremony with their team onsite on Arbor Day, Friday, April 26.
