A fully staged production of “The Rocky Horror Show – The Musical” will be produced for the 3rd consecutive season at The GhostLight Theatre beginning October 29th through Halloween weekend, and Sunday, November 2nd. Stage Directed by GhostLight GM/Artistic Director Paul Mow and Co-Directed/Choreographed by Paige Mulick, Rocky Horror will also feature a different guest narrator each evening. This production is Rated-R for content, and is meant for mature audiences only. Only adults 18+ will be permitted without an accompanied parent/guardian.
This hilarious cult classic is a tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1930s through the early 1960s. In this musical with music, lyrics and a book written by Richard O’Brien, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. “Frank-N-Furter”. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named "Rocky."
Beyond its cult status, The Rocky Horror Show is also widely said to have been an influence on countercultural and sexual liberation movements that followed on from the 1960s. It was one of the first popular musicals to depict fluid sexuality during a time of division between generations and a lack of sexual difference acceptance. Like the film adaptation, the musical is noted for a long-running tradition of audience participation through call-back lines and attending dressed up as characters from the show.
Audiences are encouraged to dress in any/all costumes to attend the show, and a costume contest will take place with an award given each night for best costume. In addition to audience callbacks, a limited number of Rocky Horror “participation kits” will be available for purchase at the event, as well as beer and wine at Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s productions.
The cast of Rocky Horror Show – The Musical includes: Paige Mulick (Janet), Michael Finchum/Jarad Medukas (Dr. Frank-N-Furter), Wes Shenker (Riff Raff), Sam Donoho/Cristian Marquez(Brad), Abby Hosinski(Columbia), Meggie Anderson/Caiti Hernandez(Magenta), Dennis Davis(Rocky), Triss Wright (Eddie/Dr. Scott), Meggie Anderson (Usherette) and Lane Alsup, Michelle Miller, Anna Russell, Austin Washington, and Lila Beard as Phantoms/Transylvanians.
