Visitors will have a chance to experience an evening of lights and music at Historic Chapin Mansion on Saturday, December 13 from 4-7 pm. The Niles History Center will host a special Evening Open House. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the Fort St. Joseph Museum and Chapin Mansion all dressed up for the holidays decorated by various community groups and businesses in our theme: "Sounds of the Season." Don't miss this magical event!
The Michiana Chamber Orchestra will bring the theme to life with live music for visitors to enjoy while they take in all the sights. History Center Director Christina Arseneau notes, “The Mansion is all decked out in bells, musical notes and sheet music. There is even a display of holiday carol books and music items from the Museum’s collection.”
Luminaries will light the way to the Fort St. Joseph Museum next door, which features exhibits of Père Noel, the Flying Canoe, and French Colonial Christmas traditions, as well as Rudolph historical memorabilia. The Museum’s gift store will be open, offering a unique selection of historical books, including Fort St. Joseph in Pictures, the recent publication celebrating 25 years of archaeology. Handmade Christmas ornaments are also offered for sale.
Admission to the Holiday Evening Open House is free and all ages are invited. The Niles History Center is located at 508 E. Main Street, Niles, MI. Please check the Niles History Center's website, www.nileshistorycenter.org, for more information or call 269-845-4054.
