Lake Michigan College (LMC) is inviting local employers to take advantage of several exciting opportunities to connect with students and potential employees throughout the fall semester. From ongoing weekly spotlights to signature campus events, these initiatives are designed to bridge the gap between education and employment in Southwest Michigan.
Three Key Opportunities for Employer Engagement
Take Flight: LMC's Career & Transfer Expo
LMC's signature fall event combines the best elements of a career fair and transfer fair, offering employers unparalleled access to students, alumni, and community members. Scheduled for October 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., this comprehensive event features:
-
Direct connection opportunities with attendees seeking full-time, part-time, and internship positions
-
Networking during complimentary meal service
-
Inspiring mini sessions on apprenticeships, professional development, and career planning
-
A diverse audience including current students, alumni, and Southwest Michigan community members
Employer Spotlights – Ongoing Weekly Program
LMC's Career Services team offers employers a unique weekly spotlight program that provides maximum visibility to the student body. Featured employers are highlighted in the Career Services Weekly email sent to all students, followed by an on-campus table presence. Depending on their target audience, employers can set up in Todd Hall, Hanson Hall, or the Main Building during peak student hours. This program serves dual purposes: immediate hiring opportunities and long-term brand awareness for post-graduation employment. South Haven campus spotlights are also available for employers seeking to connect with students at that location.
Handshake Digital Platform
Employers can expand their reach through Handshake, a comprehensive digital platform that connects students with jobs, internships, and work-study opportunities. Both local and nationwide employers use this app to post positions and connect directly with LMC students. Employers can register at https://app.joinhandshake.com/ to access this valuable recruitment tool.
Building Southwest Michigan's Workforce
"These initiatives reflect our commitment to creating strong partnerships between education and industry," said Kathi Szabo, Career Development Specialist at LMC. “We’re providing multiple pathways for employers to connect with our talented students and help build Southwest Michigan's skilled workforce."
All events are hosted by LMC's Career Services and Academic Advising teams and are designed to serve employers ranging from those seeking entry-level candidates to those looking for experienced professionals.
