Great Lakes Eye Care Welcomes

Dr. Rachel McKuras to the Team

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 26th, 2025

St. Joseph, MI  Great Lakes Eye Care is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Rachel McKuras, OD, to its team of dedicated eye care professionals. Dr. McKuras brings a wealth of clinical experience, academic excellence, and a heart for service to the Southwest Michigan community.

Originally from Anderson, Indiana, Dr. McKuras was raised in both Indiana and Illinois and is a graduate of Mahomet-Seymour High School in Mahomet, IL. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology Pre-Medicine from Indiana Wesleyan University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University, graduating with highest distinction and earning membership in the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society.

Following her doctoral training, Dr. McKuras completed a residency in neuro-ocular rehabilitation and ocular disease at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Her clinical passions include helping patients with complex visual needs and providing compassionate, thorough care.

Beyond her work in the clinic, Dr. McKuras has participated in international mission trips that brought eye care to underserved communities in Ukraine (2021), Guyana (2022), and Dominica (2024). She is an active member of both the American Academy of Optometry and the American Optometric Association.

Dr. McKuras and her husband, Camden, have been married since 2019. Camden is a fellow Indiana Wesleyan University graduate with degrees in Christian Ministry and Practical Theology. Together, they look forward to joining the community and plan to attend Overflow Church in Benton Harbor.

Great Lakes Eye Care is excited to welcome Dr. McKuras and is confident she will be a valuable asset to both the practice and the patients we serve.
