The Ghostlight Theatre is excited to announce the return of their Young Apprentice Training Program (YAP) for the Summer of 2025, to include any/all students aged 13-19. This season the program continues to grow and develop with the feature performance, The Wolves – a play by Sara DeLappe. Auditions for the YAP will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 17th & 18th from 4-6pm at The GhostLight Theatre – 101 Hinkley Street, Benton Harbor.
Auditioners need only attend one day of auditions but should plan on being there for the duration (please arrive promptly at 4pm, or even a few minutes early). Those interested should bring a completed application (found on the GhostLight’s website – www.GhostLightBH.com/YA) and prepare a short monologue. (If you do not have a monologue prepared one may be provided to you). Lindsay Gilmore-Gaspari will be the Stage Director of The Wolves (2024– She Kills Monsters), while Jodie Wilson will be directing the YAP program throughout and possibly additional performances or scenes throughout the summer.
We are also excited to announce specified training with resident Lighting Designer, Collin Wagner, resident Costume Designer Kasey Brown, and resident Stage Manager Anastasia Field. This summer there will be additional opportunities to learn about a multitude of aspects of theater including: lighting design, costume design, set building, stage combat, set design, stage managing and producing/front of house. There will also be added performance workshops where we will work monologues, audition preparation, as well as on a few short plays. This year since the core performance (The Wolves) calls for an all-female cast, we will be launching an additional YAP Troupe. This is open to ALL youth applying to YAP. Our goal is to prepare a performance piece that we (the Troupe) would be able to perform elsewhere, with possible multiple performance dates. In addition to these particular opportunities for our Young Artists, we also will encourage and connect all participants with the current GhostLight Mainstage productions this summer, to possibly include Rent and Chess
“We are excited to once again offer the YAP training program with theatrical training both on AND off stage for our area youth,” says GM/Artistic Director Paul Mow. “Both Jodie and Lindsay have been involved for years with our local theatre scene as well as youth theatre in the area. They each provide different yet similar levels of expertise and understanding on what it takes for students to respect all levels of the theatre-making process, and we are thrilled they have chosen to work with us again here at The GhostLight.”
Once accepted into the GhostLight Young Apprentice Training Program, enrollment is FREE! The commitment agreement does include 20 hours of time (non-rehearsal) and there is an attendance expectation as well. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have at your auditions or via email at info@ghostlightbh.com.
