David Baker's watercolor with colored pencil classes at Box Factory for the Arts

ST. JOSEPH -- Perfect Partners, a series of classes by David Baker, will focus on ways that colored pencil can enhance watercolor paintings at the Box Factory for the Arts, 1101 Broad Street. Classes will meet on Thursday evening, August 18 from 6 to 8 p.m.; Sunday, August 21 from 2 to 5 p.m.; Thursday, August 25 from 6 to 8 p.m.; and Sunday August 28 from 2 to 5 p.m.

Traditional colored pencil will be used to establish an under drawing, adjust both light and dark values and add rich textures. These are excellent techniques for photo realists or illustrators. Participants should have some experience with watercolor painting.

There will be a minimum of 5 students and a maximum of 11 students for the classes. A non-refundable class fee will be $100 for members of the Berrien Artist Guild and $110 for non-members. Registration is available online at https://boxfactoryforthearts.org/classes/workshops. A list of materials will be sent upon registration.

David, who has a studio at the Box Factory, is on the faculty at the Krasl Art Center and frequently teaches at Ox-Box School of Art in Saugatuck. He has taught workshops on a variety of topics including drawing, painting, watercolor and design. He also exhibits his work in many regional shows.
