Community Race with a Purpose: YMCA of Greater Michiana Hosts 14th Annual 5K/10K in St. Joseph

The YMCA of Greater Michiana invites runners, walkers, and families to join the 14th Annual Race for YMCA 5K/10K on Saturday, July 19 at 8:30 a.m., presented by Honor Credit Union. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA's annual campaign, which provides financial assistance for memberships and programs to local children and families in need.

Participants can choose between a 5K or 10K along a scenic course that starts and finishes at the Margaret B. Upton Arboretum, featuring views of the St. Joseph River, Silver Beach, and Lake Michigan shoreline. The event welcomes all fitness levels and is known for its community spirit and meaningful impact.

Virtual option available for added flexibility
New this year, the Y offers a virtual race option for participants who prefer to run on their own schedule and route. Those choosing the virtual experience can complete their 5K or 10K between July 19–27, submit their time online, and still receive a commemorative finisher medal. Virtual racers will also receive a printable bib and are encouraged to share photos and videos using #RaceForYMCA.

“Whether you join us downtown or complete your race virtually from wherever you are, every mile supports our mission to make sure no one is turned away from the YMCA,” said Jill Haboush, Chief Development Officer, YMCA of Greater Michiana. “It’s about community, movement, and making a real difference.”

Late/Day-Of Registration (July 18-19): $40
Register by June 22 to guarantee a race shirt

Participants of all fitness levels are welcome, from seasoned runners to casual walkers, and trophies will be awarded to the overall winners in the 10K run and 5K run, as well as medals given to the top three in each age group and children who finish the event.
