Budget Blinds Announces “Trade In/Trade Up for Child Safety” Program Following New Window Cover Safety Standard

St. Joseph, MI - In light of a new safety standard that went into effect on June 1, 2024, Budget Blinds of South Bend Mishawaka Elkhart & St. Joseph is helping to make homes safer by launching a special promotion, “Trade In/Trade Up for Child Safety.” This initiative encourages homeowners to trade in their old, corded blinds or shades for safer, cordless options or motorization, reducing the risk of child strangulation incidents related to corded window coverings.

The updated Window Cover Safety Standard, which went into effective as of June 1, mandates that all custom-made window coverings be motorized, cordless or have short, inaccessible helper cords, or cord loops with a tension device eliminating free hanging operating cords and tilt cords. As October is Window Covering Safety Month and November is National Child Safety and Protection Month, Budget Blinds of South Bend Mishawaka Elkhart & St. Joseph is committed to raising awareness about the importance of child-safe window coverings in the home.

Through the “Trade In/Trade Up for Child Safety” promotion, customers will receive a $25 credit for each old corded blind or shade you trade-in. With your new window treatment purchase additionally, they’ll receive 30% off on their new, child-safe window treatments.

“We’re excited to help our community take an important step toward safer homes,” said Tara Gallagher, Sales and Marketing Assistant of Budget Blinds of South Bend Mishawaka Elkhart & St. Joseph. “Our Trade In/Trade Up promotion makes it easier for families to upgrade to the latest, most secure window covering options that align with the new standards. We’re proud to support the safety of children in our area through this initiative.”

The team at Budget Blinds of South Bend Mishawaka Elkhart & St. Joseph is dedicated to making this transition as easy as possible by providing a range of cordless and motorized window covering options that suit any style or need.
