BOSS Services’ 9/11 Hero Climb Raises $9000 for Local Fire Stations

BOSS Services’ 9/11 Hero Climb Raises $9000 for Local Fire Stations

On Monday morning September 11, 2023 at 8:46 a.m., in the pouring rain, 200+ community members and emergency responders began the third annual BOSS Services 9/11 Hero Climb at the St. Joseph High School stadium. Participants and local first responders climbed 2,071 stadium stairs in remembrance of NYC first responders who sacrificed their lives on 9/11, while some walked a mile on the track to show their support.

All the proceeds raised from the 9/11 Hero Climb and 1-Mile Hero Walk have been donated to local Berrien County fire departments to buy critical life-saving gear and equipment. Thanks to all of the local businesses who sponsored the event, those who participated, and those who donated, BOSS Services was able to raise $9,000 to donate to local fire departments. $3,000 has been donated to each Benton Twp Fire Dept., St. Joseph Twp Fire Dept, and the City of St. Joseph Fire Dept. All three departments were involved with the planning of the event from its onset.

“My grandfather is a retired fireman from Benton Charter Township and I always wanted to be a firefighter. I joined the Marine Corp instead. On 9/11 I was stationed at Eglin Air Force base attending EOD school, which is the military’s bomb squad. I was buffing the floor when the first plane hit the North Tower. And at the time, like everybody else, didn’t think it was a terrorist attack. When the second plane hit the whole base immediately went into lockdown because everyone then knew it wasn’t an accident. We watched as firefighters went in and risked, and lost their lives, trying to save the victims in the Twin Towers. Honoring their memory and raising money for local first responders is near and dear to my heart and to BOSS Services heart,” says Jeff Street Co-Owner of BOSS Services.

BOSS Services thanks all the participants that signed up and their overwhelming support, we thank the sponsors and the community for helping make this event a success.
