The Market General Manager (or Market Manager) oversees the total business operations, sales performance, and strategic growth within a specific geographic territory or market segment.

Job Summary
We are looking for a high-impact Market General Manager to take full ownership of our presence in South Bend and Benton Harbor. You will be responsible for driving top-line revenue, managing the local P&L, and leading cross-functional teams to ensure our brand dominates the local landscape.

Core Responsibilities
  • Market Strategy: Adapt corporate goals into actionable local strategies to capture market share and outperform regional competitors.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily business activities within the market to ensure high standards of service and operational efficiency.
  • P&L Ownership: Manage the local budget, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-control measures to maximize profitability.
  • Sales & Business Development: Lead local sales efforts, identify new partnership opportunities, and maintain key client relationships.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit and develop a regional team, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Brand Advocacy: Act as the primary face of the company within the community, managing local PR and marketing initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience5–10 years of progressive management experience, specifically in market expansion or regional operations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing; MBA highly desirable.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret market data, financial reports, and consumer trends.
  • Communication: Expert-level negotiation and public speaking skills.

Experience:

4-year college degree in Broadcast, Communications or related field.  Sales experience and 5 years of management experience.  Radio sales and management preferred.

Language Skills:

 

Ability to communicate precisely and effectively.  Ability to
effectively present information in one-on-one, small and large group situations to Account Managers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  Ability to construct and write proposals, letters and other documents using correct grammar, punctuation and layout.

 

Mathematical Skills:

 

Basic math skills are required.  Also, ability to use and
understand Arbitron ratings, rates and all related information preferred.   Ability to understand simple to moderate spreadsheets.  Ability to construct and understand Account Manager budgets and overall budgets.

 

Other Skills & Abilities:

 

Basic knowledge of computers and copier/scanner. Ability to
work with a wide range of personalities within the sales department and other departments.  Ability to successfully attend to numerous activities, projects and people simultaneously.  Be available for occasional overnight travel for company functions.

A valid driver’s license is required.
