The Y Turns 100! Join Us for a Week of Celebration

In 1926, a small group of community members had a big idea: a place where anyone could come to grow stronger in body, mind, and spirit. One hundred years later, that idea is still going strong. From first swim lessons to health and wellness to childcare to cancer survivorship to lifelong friendships and more, the Y has been part of our community's story for a century, and we want to celebrate with the people who made it possible: you.

Starting October 19 | Open House Week 
All week long, the Y is open to the entire community. Stop by, tour the facility, try a workout, and see what a century of community looks like.

October 20th | Anniversary Day Highlights

7:00 – 9:00 AM | Community Breakfast 
Grab a bite and help us kick off the celebration. PLEASE RSVP HERE by October 16th

--> 9:15 AM | 100th Anniversary Ribbon Cutting* 
Be part of history as we join the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber to cut the ribbon on our next hundred years. Stick around afterward for guided tours of our locker rooms. 

 11:45AM - 12:45 AM | Shake it for 100! Zumba Class

This fun high-energy aerobics class incorporates hypnotic Latin rhythms such as Salsa, Merengue, Cha-Cha, Belly Dancing, Bhangra, Flamenco and more!

5:00 – 7:00 PM | Family Fun Night
Enjoy hot dogs and popcorn while kids dive into the Pumpkin Plunge (Registration Required, limited space. $5 Members, $10 Community. No age restrictions. Children 7 & under, or those who cannot stand in the pool, must be accompanied by an adult. RSVP HERE), a festive fall splash for children in our community.

100 Years in the Making

1926 – The Y is founded
1927 – Our first facility opens
1941 – The Learn-to-Swim Program begins
1960 – The Y joins in community cultural programming
1975 – The Y supports the CanAm Games and its swimmers
1981 – We move to our 28,000-square-foot home on Hollywood Road
1984 – Four racquetball courts and a weight room are added
1997 – A weight room, cardio room, and youth gym expand our space
2015 – A major renovation grows our child development programs
2017 – We merge with the Niles-Buchanan YMCA
2020 – We become part of the YMCA of Greater Michiana
