The inaugural "\;summer songwriters"\; program is hosted by Jeremy T. Butler of the \;Freedom Center \;for Arts and Education in Benton Harbor\, MI. Musicians participated in a two-week workshop with Butler who also is the Lead Pastor of \;Freedom \;Life Church.

Butler pursued his secular education at Chicago State University and Berklee College of Music in \;Boston\, MA\, where he honed his skills in music and gained a solid foundation in academic \;studies. On his website\, it says\,"\;he has dedicated his life to advancing the arts for future generations\, and remains committed \;to developing programs\, building systems\, and offering mentorship that unlocks the \;transformative \;freedom \;of creative expression&mdash\;for both youth and adults alike."\;
