DESCRIPTION:The Michiana Annual Art Competition\, or MAAC for short\, showcases works by nearly 100 of the finest artists in the region. The "MAAC in the Box" exhibition is on display at the Box Factory for the Arts from May 17 to July 7.\n\n \n\nThe MAAC is a juried\, fine art exhibition designed to recognize\, foster\, and reward excellence of artists in southwestern Michigan and northern Indiana. More than 120 original works were selected for the exhibit. Serving as judge for the entries is Anne Corlett\, a full-time artist with a studio in Saugatuck.\n\n \n\nAwards will be presented at the Opening Reception for artwork in eight categories\, including painting (oil\, acrylic\, watercolor)\; drawing (pastels\, pencil\, pen/ink\, printmaking)\; photography\; fiber arts (weaving\, quilting\, knitting)\; 3D (sculpture\, glass\, ceramics)\; and mixed media. The artist winning the top prize\, Best of Show\, will be awarded $1\,500. A People's Choice Award will be determined by votes from the public during the run of the show\, with the winner announced after the exhibit ends in July.
