Honor Credit Union Announces Final Numbers From 2021 Community Shred Days

BERRIEN SPRINGS, MICHIGAN – September 28, 2021 – Honor Credit Union is proud to announce the success of its Free Community Shred Days. In partnership with Data Guardian and Country Mile Shredding Service, Honor hosted 10 free shred events and shredded a total of 76,750 pounds of paper.

These free events, open to members and non-members, promote the protection of personal information by destroying confidential documents, and are a chance to recycle all unused papers to help protect the environment.

Battle Creek – 5,900 lbs.
Berrien Springs Operations Center – 7,200 lbs.
Marquette – 10,000 lbs.
Plainwell – 4,800 lbs.
Coloma – 7,900 lbs.
Kalamazoo – 8,200 lbs.
Paw Paw – 6,300 lbs.
Negaunee – 9,150 lbs.

Environmental Impact 
Trees saved – 667
Oil saved – 14,544 gallons
Water saved – 284,761 gallons 
Landfill saved – 119 cubic yards

These efforts go hand-in-hand with Honor’s commitment to supporting a green initiative. Additionally, Honor provides digital services, such as online or mobile banking and paperless e-statements to help reduce their carbon footprint. The 2022 Free Community Shred Day schedule will be released early next year.
