About Us

We all need a place that tells our stories of accomplishments, mistakes and dreams; a place that shares how our community came to be what it is today and why we live the way we do. We need somewhere that inspires us to keep our story going. The Heritage Museum and Cultural Center in St. Joseph is our remembering place in Southwest Michigan, housing our area’s history, its artifacts and archival collections and a research library. We are a non-profit museum and our exhibitions are always FREE. We offer a Concert Series, Lecture Series, Leadership Education, and special events, such as our Historic Homes of Old St. Joseph walking tour. Through a contract with the City of St. Joseph, The Heritage provides guided tours along the St. Joseph North Pier Inner and Outer lights, including the opportunity to climb to the top of the Inner Light!

The Heritage provides a beautiful setting for a variety of functions, including weddings, seminars, and concerts.
