Live music on the riverfront returns to Benton Harbor this August with Riverfest. Riverfest, being held at Charles Yarbrough Park at 880 Riverview Drive August 6 th and 7th , 2021, will feature Benton Harbor, and area visiting musicians, artists, food, and reintroduce the community and visitors to the park along Riverview Drive. There will be a 5K held in conjunction with Riverfest as well as on-site CirqEsteem circus camps by for kids, and a beer and wine tent that will benefit two local non-profits.
The lineup for the event includes internationally renowned performer, and Benton Harbor native, Niki Haris as Friday evening’s headliner. Saturday night’s headlining act is regional favorite, the Benton Harbor based, Andrew Fisher Quartet. Supporting acts include Work in Progress, Sankofa, St. Joe Jack, Erick Fisher Saxophonist, and the Midwest’s number one Michael Jackson impersonator, Rico. Also performing are Ja Ja and Sci-Fi Radio.
Two non-profits will benefit from beer and wine sales for this event. Neighbors Organizing Against Racism, a Benton Harbor based non-profit dedicated to bridging the divide between communities created by the myth of race and the effects of systemic racism. As well as the African American History & Literature Gallery Museum in Benton Harbor dedicated to preserving art and literature by African Americans. The museum is currently working with the Krasl Art Center, the Berrien Community Foundation and the Benton Harbor Saint Joseph Arts & Culture Social Justice Group to erect monuments of Martin Luther King, Jr. in both St. Joseph and Benton Harbor.
On-site during the two-day festival there will be artist tents with local and visiting artists featuring and selling their products and area food trucks serving delicious meals. Ticket sales begin June 15 with the option of one day tickets, weekend tickets, and a limited amount of tables available for each night.
