Name: Community Altar for Dia de Muertos
Date: November 2, 2020
Time: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST
Event Description:
Born out of the Catholic All Souls Day and pre-Colombian cultures, the modern Mexican tradition of Dia de Muertos is a celebration of life, family, and love. For many families, this is the time of year to honor ancestors, share memories, and come together to celebrate the strong bonds of family. Center to the celebrations is the ofrenda or altar, where photos and mementos of deceased friends and family reside.

The BCHA is celebrating Dia de Muertos by inviting the community to help us build our own ofrenda and honor those that made our lives today possible. Pictures and mementos are welcomed to reside on the altar, however perishable items and items of sentimental or monetary value will not be accepted.

Community members can bring items to the altar any time between October 1st and November 4th. They can be picked up beginning on November 5th.
